Twenty landowners meet at the Ruakituri school to discuss the future of the catchment Group. The Guardians of the Ruakituri River receive huge community support and decide to go ahead with the creation of an Incorporated Society.

Nic Caviale Delzescaux from Terra Tangata Consulting meets with the landowners at the Ruakituri school and starts mapping out a catchment management plan.

Nuku Hadfield, Peter McCarthy, Pat O’Brien and Nic Caviale Delzescaux present their community vision at the HBRC Integrated Catchment Management Committee Chaired by Hinewai Ormsby in Napier. Both groups are seeking co funding to leverage support from the Fresh Water Improvement Fund.

Nicolas Caviale Delzescaux is invited to attend a landowners meeting on Awarua Station to discuss a way forward for the Catchment Group. The group outlines it’s ideas for an application to the Fresh Water Improvement fund.

15 community members attended a workshop on catchment groups facilitated by Beef and Lamb (Mark Harris and Richard Parkes). At the end of this workshop, our Catchment Committee was formed.

Nuku Hadfield contacts Nic Caviale Delzescaux at Terra Tangata Consulting to seek for support and guidance in regards to farm planning and catchment work.

Several Ruakituri community members met informally and organized a pot luck tea at the hall to discuss a collective way to better protect the Ruakituri River. The idea of creating a catchment group was discussed amongst the stakeholders. This lead to a formal workshop on the 17th of December.
